Mike's Job Search Blog
This blog documents a record of my job search - my methods, day-to-day progress, and insights gained along the way.
Entry for October 08, 2007
Welcome to day 1 of my weblog. I am using this blog to document and clarify my thinking about my job search. It will be a journal to help me gain insights into what I am meant to do for the rest of my working life.

THE question is always "What do you want to do and where do you want to do it." The answer to "where" is easy: within my community or within a reasonable commuting distance from Lockhart - an hour or less each way. (I am willing to travel, however.)

The "what" is not easy. My background gives me an opportunity to make a transition to a number of industries (mentioned in my resume). I could stay in my comfort zone and aim for a job in the telecom or information technology sector, or cast a much wider net and focus more on transferable skills.

Partly via this blog, I hope to explore and distill the most important factors that will determine the "what" for me. As well as identify the most important knowledge, skills, and personal qualities I can contribute to an employer.
